In order to meet the urgent needs of society, several companies with a social purpose have emerged, seeking to reconcile economic growth, social cohesion and respect for the environment. On the one hand, traditional companies that contribute to sustainable development are mainly seen in CSR. Their dominant purpose remains the search for profit, while the social and environmental dimensions are considered derisory objectives. Secondly, social entrepreneurship, bursting into the world of the social and solidarity economy, aims to meet the basic needs of humanity in a sustainable way through the fight against unemployment, vulnerability, and social disparities, which makes it possible to guarantee a socially sustainable development that respects human rights.
In our research work, we opted for a purely theoretical study. As a result, we first proceeded by conceptualizing the key terms to clarify the ambiguity between social entrepreneurship and the social and solidarity economy, given that not only has the economy made its entry into social and cultural activities, but social practices have also integrated management, budgets, planning and accounting. Then, we mentioned the notion of Corporate Social Responsibility so as not to confuse a traditional company opting for CSR with a social company. Finally, we exposed the articulation between social enterprises and sustainable development, or how the social and solidarity economy and sustainable development contribute to each other.
