Bibliometric and systematic analysis of the concept of human capital and its link to environmental performance

Abstract

Based on a 20-year dataset (1999-2020) collected from the Web of Science and Scopus databases, this study aims to present a comprehensive knowledge map of the intellectual structure of the field of study of the interactions between human capital, intellectual capital (IC) and human capital performance and its relationship with corporate environmental performance(EP).The study uses bibliographic linkage as a tool to screen the titles, abstracts, keywords, frames, and headings of 56 articles relevant for the analysis. For the visualization analysis, the study applied scientific landscape visualization. using VOSViewer and Gephi software. The study provides an overview of articles, authors, most influential journals and research topics.The results reveal the existence of three research themes: human capital, CSR, open innovation and environmental performance, the relationship between environmental performance, IC and employee capital efficiency and human capital efficiency, ecological system and performance management and for conclusion companies that adopt global environmental standards have higher market values, etc. In summary, this paper presents the main results of the research analyses and recommends future research directions for the field.
