What will remain of the State ?
Keywords:
State, Regulation, Globalization, Governance, Legitimacy, Public PolicyAbstract
The definition of the State as a concept reveals the extent to which this entity poses a problem due to the multidimensional nature of its definition, ranging from the extent and form of its existence to the manifestations of its deployment across time and space. This issue acquires even greater significance in a context marked by recurring crises, combined with a growing incapacity of traditional state intervention instruments. This paper examines the conceptual foundations, the historical evolution of political organization forms (from the City-state to the Nation-state), and the contemporary transformations of the role of the State facing globalization, decentralization, and multi-actor governance. It questions the adaptability and sustainability of the state structure in light of economic efficiency requirements and social legitimacy.
