In the context of the transformation of the Malian healthcare system and the growth of private hospitals, this research analyzes the influence of human resource management (HRM) practices on employee motivation at GLA, a private hospital located in Bamako. It aims to identify the HR practices implemented, understand their effects on motivation, and identify avenues for improving social performance. Rooted in an interpretivist paradigm, the study employs a qualitative approach based on a single case study. Data were collected through ten semi-structured interviews with human resource managers and employees from various professional categories, and then analyzed using a thematic approach inspired by Braun and Clarke (2006). The results, structured around six thematic categories, show that HR practices remain primarily administrative. Career management, skills development, recognition, and the management of social performance remain insufficiently structured. Employees also perceive poor pay equity, linked in particular to a lack of transparency, while the absence of career advancement opportunities, inadequate internal communication, and limitations in relationship management contribute to demotivation. The study thus highlights the importance of coherent, equitable, and strategic HR management, based on recognition, skills development, career management, and employee participation.
