Motivation at work: a theoretical overview and analyzes of the main measuring instruments
Abstract
The evaluation of motivation at work, like its conceptualization, is not unanimous and still represents various limits. Nevertheless, although the theories that have attempted to approach motivation are numerous, the cognitive current represents the perspective that founds the main instruments for measuring this concept. The objective of this article is to discuss the main scales of measurement referring to this perspective. To identify this objective, a review of the literature on various databases was conducted. The analysis of the literature relating to motivation at work shows that, despite the diversity of existing measurement scales, its measurement still has limits relating in particular to apparent validity, the divergence of the dimensions included the exclusion of certain forms of motivation and temporal stability.
