Résumé

This paper analyzes the multidimensional impact of cultural festivals on territorial development, using a quantitative comparative analysis of Essaouira Festival and Tantan Moussem in Morocco. Based on the hypothetico-deductive approach, the survey of 1,338 stratified samples of local actors took place. Statistical analysis with SPSS was used and relationships were tested using Student's t-tests, ANOVA and linear regressions with p<0.05 significance level. The findings show a very high degree of significance yet asymmetry of territorial externalities. The Essaouira Festival acts as a globalized economic and technological catalyst, maximizing international tourism through territorial marketing. Conversely, the Tantan Moussem functions as a sociocultural and political anchor, distinguishing itself through heritage promotion, social cohesion, and perceived environmental sustainability. At the theoretical level, this research validates classical models such as growth pole and social capital theories within a North African context. At the managerial level, it highlights the need for tailored strategies that reconcile international reach, community engagement, and ecological sustainability. While acknowledging certain limitations, such as the reliance on perception based data and a cross sectional methodology, future research should incorporate objective macroeconomic indicators and longitudinal approaches to fully assess the long-term territorial footprint of cultural events.
