The Impact of Distance Learning During the Pandemic: Exploring the Relationship Between Motivation, Commitment, and Performance Among Students at FSJES Marrakech
Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic is the global crisis of our time and the greatest challenge we have faced since the Second World War. All areas of human life have been affected. Education is among the activities that have been most affected. To ensure pedagogical continuity, Moroccan universities have made efforts to set up a distance education system on a large scale. Students, research teachers and university officials participated in this challenge.
Theoretically, our research is based on the theory of self-determination (Deci and Ryan 1985) and the model of human engagement (Brault labbé and Dubé, 2008). Empirically, we chose the method of structural equations that allow us to analyze the different causal relationships of the conceptual model. The Partial Least Square (PLS) approach is implemented instead of the Covariance Based Structural Equation Modeling (CBSEM) approach. The results show that the level of motivation does not have a significant impact on the engagement, but engagement positively influences the performance of the students of the university of CADY AYAD MARRAKECH.
