Abstract

The object of this work is to understand the effectiveness of recruitment through social media in Cameroonian SMEs. To achieve this objective, which is both theoretical and empirical, we analyzed the various works related to the integration of ICT in recruitment. To do this, we have identified from the literature the recruitment indicators (cost, time, etc.) that can define social media recruiting effectiveness. To carry out this work, we compared these indicators to empirical facts by adopting a qualitative approach. The interviews carried out concern the cities of Douala, Yaoundé, Ngaoundéré and Bertoua. The main results allowed us to highlight the various social networks most used, including WhatsApp and Facebook in Cameroonian SMEs as part of e-recruitment. This can be explained by the fact that these networks do not require significant costs for their implementation and are in phase with the relational network (family, friends, etc.) which characterizes SMEs. Likewise, these results also allowed us to understand the capacity of these social networks to reduce the cost and the time of recruitment, the profile of the candidates recruited on these media as well as the credibility of the information provided.
