Abstract

This article explores the impact of operational excellence practices on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in the textile sector. It is based on a literature review to contextualize these practices and outlines the methodology employed. Operational excellence represents a set of principles and practices aimed at optimizing an organization's overall performance by identifying and eliminating inefficiencies, waste, and improving the quality of its operations. Three textile companies were chosen for this study, each facing distinct operational challenges.

The methodology includes documentary analysis, interviews with operations management experts, and the collection of empirical data from selected companies. The goal was to measure the impact of operational excellence on equipment availability, process performance, and product quality.

The results indicate that the implementation of operational excellence practices led to a significant improvement in OEE in the three companies. Equipment availability increased due to proactive maintenance and reduced unplanned downtime. Process performance improved through standardized procedures and employee training. Lastly, product quality strengthened through rigorous quality control at each stage of production.

The conclusions emphasize the importance of operational excellence in enhancing the competitiveness of textile companies. The enhancement of equipment availability, process performance, and operational quality directly impacts OEE, resulting in improved efficiency, reduced costs, and increased customer satisfaction. However, the success of these practices relies on employee commitment, collaboration within the organization, and the ability to tailor these practices to each company's specific needs.

In summary, this study highlights the tangible benefits of operational excellence in the textile sector and demonstrates how it can drive operational performance and competitiveness in the global market.
