Digital transformation and economic development in the context of a health crisis
Abstract
Digital transformation has become a key driver of economic development in recent years, with organizations across various industries embracing digital technologies to improve productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness. However, the outbreak of a health crisis has amplified the need for a rapid and comprehensive digital transformation to meet the challenges posed by the crisis and support economic development. In addition, digital transformation has accelerated the digitization of government services, health systems, and education, leading to improved accessibility, efficiency, and effectiveness. Governments have taken advantage of digital tools to deliver essential services, disseminate information and implement crisis management strategies. Likewise, healthcare systems have embraced telemedicine and remote patient monitoring, ensuring continuity of care while minimizing infection risk. Digital learning platforms have also facilitated distance learning, ensuring that students can continue their studies without interruption. Indeed, the COVID-19 pandemic has been a catalyst for digital transformation, forcing Moroccan organizations across various sectors to quickly adapt and adopt digital technologies to survive and thrive in a world shaped by the pandemic. Indeed, digitalization has enabled all the world's economies to continue operating in the context of health crises. The latter is considered to be an accelerator of digital transformation, a project that has aroused the interest of public authorities. Admittedly, this had an impact, but is it a real digital transformation or simply a simple alternative to counter the effects of the health crisis? This article aims to present the evolution of digital transformation in Morocco in a context marked by the health crisis within the framework of the new development model. It is a question of drawing up an inventory of the digital transformation in Morocco in the context of the health crisis through an analysis of statistical data based on a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) to identify the challenges of this transformation digital.
