Understanding the Digital Transformation Approach: TD's Determinants, Opportunities and Challenges
Abstract
In a context characterized by the digital transformation induced by the appearance of new technologies, companies are obliged to make changes in their organizational processes as well as their strategies, without forgetting the development of their skills in order to guarantee their sustainability. Digitization is changing at a high speed and this has led to a great demand for adaptability and flexibility within companies seeking to change their paths in order to create more value. Therefore, we have shed light on literature mainly based on documents available in journals, books, and opinions of authors expressed on websites and books with a view to improving the understanding of specific aspects of digitalization. First, we will clarify the essential concept of digital transformation while introducing new emerging technologies. Then we will present the determinants of the digital transformation allowing performance improvement of the companies, then we will take up the challenges and opportunities behind the digital transformation, finally we will propose a model to follow for a successful digital transformation. The result of the analysis of the literature review allowed us to build a conceptual model to conduct our research: It was concluded that: digital technology, competence, leadershp and digital strategy are key determinants of digital transformation and that all of its variables have an impact on business performance.
