The intervention of economic actors to limit the failure of Moroccan Small and Medium Enterprises
Abstract
In the face of the economic crises that the world has experienced, a particular interest has been shown by governments in favor of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The survival of SMEs has become an essential pillar for stimulating employment and growth.
To this end, government initiatives have been launched, including the support of this type of business. However, and despite the efforts of the actors of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the issues of survival of small and medium-sized enterprises remain complex.
It is therefore necessary to understand the cause and effect relationship between post-creation support for small and medium-sized enterprises and their survival, firstly by defining the failure of SMEs and its causes, and secondly by presenting the importance of the post-creation support process in limiting the latter.
In order to achieve this analysis, we adopted a mixed approach through the elaboration first of a quantitative study through a questionnaire of 27 questions which was addressed to 150 small and medium-sized national enterprises, in the different regions of the country, and then through a qualitative study through 4 semi-directive interviews composed of 9 questions with executives and heads of the services of the regional center of investment of Casablanca Settat.
Following the results of the qualitative analysis, we can say that post-creation support has post-creation support has become central to SME support strategies through the provision of assistance and the provision of necessary information, as well as the alleviation of administrative procedures.
Following the results of the quantitative analysis, it can be deduced that in addition to the endogenous factors of organizational and personal failure, difficulties in accessing financing are the main causes of failure, followed by difficulties in accessing markets and infrastructure. Our study revealed several shortcomings in SME support strategies. Indeed, the strategies implemented by the actors of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in terms of support are oriented rather pre-creation to the detriment of a post-creation assistance.
