Industry 4.0 in The Economic Activity Zones in Morocco: Tangier-Tetouan-Alhoceima Region Case

Abstract

The industry has gone through several revolutions and recently it has radically evolved following the integration of emerging digital technologies. Today, we speak of a fourth Industrial Revolution or the Industry of the Future. This digital transformation of companies involves organizational, technological and sometimes even cultural changes.

The objective of this article is to analyze the behavior of companies located in the economic activity zones in the region Tangier-Tetouan-Al-Hoceima facing this Industrial Revolution, and to demonstrate the role of the implementation of Industry 4.0 in the performance of companies. In this article we will first present the concept of Industry 4. 0 as a whole through a literature review as well as the advantages and limitations of its application, the quantitative-qualitative methodology was preferred and it is based on the study of 64 cases of companies located in different areas of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al-Hoceima region of Morocco through the presentation of questionnaires in the first instance and then the realization of semi-directive interviews with the managers of companies.

The results of our research reveal that only 25% of the companies questioned apply Industry 4.0. and finally we will present an analysis of the relevance of their choices and the main issues facing the Tangier-Tetouan Al-Hoceima Region for the implementation of this new system.
