Keywords: Knowledge, Economics, Indicators, Research, Innovation

Abstract

This article aims to present the economy of knowledge through the presentation of its birth, its history, the contribution of the different currents of thought and its main foundations. It also shows its importance and potential terms of development, competitiveness and improved social well-being.

It is also an analysis of the state of the knowledge economy in the Moroccan context through the study of a number of measurement indicators. It shows that despite the assets at its disposal, Morocco lags far behind in various components of this economy. This is a delay that it is obliged to fill, especially in terms of teaching, encouraging research and innovation activities in order to benefit from the potential offered by knowledge-based activities.
